Launching the tastiest drop in town – the Mudgee Brewing Company
Mudgee will soon be known for its beer as well as its wine with the launch of the Mudgee Brewing Company.
Established by two local lads,Peter Shiells and Gary Leonard, the Company specialises in handcrafting traditional beer, with the signature beers including Pale Ale, Porter, Pilsner and Wheat.
"Every Boxing Day we get together with our school mates for a BBQ, and in 2001 the idea was floated that Mudgee could do with a brewery," said Mr Shiells. "Considering the long history of brewing in Mudgee, our growth as a tourist area, and the increasing interest in micro-brewing, it was a no-brainer. The Mudgee Brewing Company was born."
"TheMudgee Brewing Company is the result of two ordinary blokes who love their beer. We wanted to make a beer we can be proud of, a beer we want to show off to our friends and to the world and say, 'We made that!'" said Mr Shiells.
The brewery prides itself on its passion for creating the tastiest of beers. With the combination of local water and the highest quality local ingredients the Mudgee Brewing Company have created the 'true essence of beer'.
Mr Leonard said "The best thing about it is that it's made right here in our home town. We've customised a range of beautifully balanced beers, including some great seasonal varieties that have been given two thumbs up by the Mudgee locals."
"Every single beer that comes out of our brewery has been made the traditional way, with a whole lot of love, no preservatives, and nothing unpronounceable. Just fresh, wholesome ales and lagers that, unlike bulk-made beer, are true-to-style, full of taste, always drinkable, and just a little bit different from the rest," said Mr Leonard.
TheMudgee Brewing Company is located in the old wool store building ( 4 Church St) which has a long and varied history. They have been true to the building's original condition reflecting their true to style brewing of ales and lagers.
Locals and visitors are invited to drop by the brewery to see how the brewing process works and, of course, to join the Mudgee boys in sampling the tastiest drop in town!
